The Kobe portion of the fall 2019 musical for the Touken Ranbu franchise has cancelled five performances from September 21 through 23 due to the health of actor Kaname Futaba, who plays Yūki Hideyasu in the musical. On Friday evening, Futaba underwent emergency surgery due to a sudden illness.

The musical will resume performances on September 25 with a substitute actor for the role.

The musical, titled Musical Touken Ranbu ~Kishōhongi~, already ran at The Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo from August 3-18 and at Sankei Hall Breeze in Osaka from August 30 to September 8. The musical will run at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Kobe in Hyogo from September 14-28, at Al Monee Thunk Kitakyushu Soleil Hall in Fukuoka from October 4-6, and at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo from October 19-27.

Isamu Kayano is again directing the musical, and Chūji Mikasano (Tokyo Ghoul anime) is returning to write the script. Shinnosuke Motoyama (Hakuōki, Vampire Knight musicals) is again in charge of choreography and staging.

The franchise also has a separate series of stage plays. The sixth play will run at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo from November 22 to December 1, at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Kobe in Hyogo from December 6 to 15, at the Akasaka ACT Theater in Tokyo from December 20 to January 12, and at the Fukuoka Sun Palace Hotel & Hall in Fukuoka from January 17 to 18.
