Two-Minute Anime Short Promotes Urban Innovation College Program

posted on by Eric Stimson

Asia University, a university with a pan-Asian focus based in Musashino, Tokyo, promoted its Department of Urban Innovation with a roughly two minute-long anime short.

The video follows a student (played by Miho Tabata) in the department's program as she pursues her dream of building modern, comfortable cities through college lectures and interactive seminars. She goes on to study at Western Washington University in the U.S., a popular destination for Asian students studying overseas. At the video's end she has attained her dream by consulting on construction of a Japanese-themed shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ("I'm building a town here that will make people happy!").

The video was directed by Yū Mashimo, who also directed the 2013 web anime short series World Full News; its music was composed by yuma, who also worked on that series.

Asia University's Department of Urban Innovation strongly emphasizes study programs in rising Asian economies like China, Thailand and Indonesia, and applies Japanese solutions to common problems like pollution, traffic and slums. An open campus session with programs for those interested in applying will be held on September 27.
