Mawaru Penguindrum's Penguin Hat Offered in Japan

The Japanese merchandising company MOVIC is currently accepting pre-orders for its latest piece of Mawaru Penguindrum merchandise, the penguin hat worn by the character Himari Takakura. The hat will be released on January 19 and will cost 2,625 yen (about US$34.65). MOVIC has made the one-size-fits-all hat using plush toy and satin materials, and the eyes have been embroidered onto the hat.
Other Mawaru Penguindrum merchandise MOVIC has released or will release includes a penguin cushion, pins, and penguin slippers. The pins were released on August 4, the cushion was released on October 13, and the slippers will be released on December 15. The company is also offering a variety of Mawaru Penguindrum merchandise including keychains, t-shirts, boxed curry, and iPhone covers.
Mawaru Penguindrum is the latest anime from director Kunihiko Ikuhara (Revolutionary Girl Utena, several Sailor Moon television series). The story revolves around the Takakura twins as they search for the Penguindrum in order to repay a spirit for saving their sister's life. Otome Yōkai Zakuro manga creator Lily Hoshino is handling the original character designs. The 24-episode anime premiered on July 7.
