I’ve dearly wished for season 2 for years, but I fear the movie ruined that.

The anime adapted the first few volumes of the light novels, but the movie takes place over ten volumes later (more or less). It really felt like they didn’t plan to go back after that.

It's kind of amusing that the series Kawahara finally managed to get published with ended up entirely dropping off fandom's radar, when the series that was "Hey, you got any old material we can publish while you're working on more Accel World?" "Well, there's this old thing I've been posting on my blog…" ended up a gigantic, industry-reshaping franchise with nine anime cours (counting GGO), several movies, and at least one new video game every year.

Considering the stories in Accel World and SAO have been converging for a while now it would make sense for them to animate more at some point. The two stories share a lot of the same terminology and there's at least one SAO character secretly living in the Accelerated World (something that was alluded to in the crossover game long before it really got support in the books). It's hard to believe the story will climax in 27, that's going to have to be quite the dense volume since there's so much it feels like they need to cover and questions that need answering from 26. We'll see, it's going to be a while before it gets its English release.

The article says the story will enter the climax in the next volume after the newest one, so volume 28, not 27.

Oh, gotcha, I thought they were referring to the same thing when I first read it.

After the events of volume 26 I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series is going.

It's almost kind of surreal for me to imagine Accel World ending. I hope Kawahara can deliver a satisfying conclusion.

Now if only we could get more of the anime...

I hope this means he'll start writing more isolator novels. It's his best series.

Man i wish we could upvote comments. it's really funny to think both were same by the same person considering how different the two are in certian ways haha.
