Light novels can be iffy when it comes to availability for preorder but I thought I would check and it is currently available on Audible right now. I spent one of my available credits and now have it in my library to download.

I have a couple of books I want to listen to first but I'm so excited for this. I read most of the books but was never able to finish the series. Getting to listen to it read by Asuka (my favorite character) is too much.

This will mark the first time I decided to check out the audiobook version of a light novel, and not just because they made the interesting decision to hire Tiffany Grant for this.

Aside from its all-too-blunt conclusion, the Evangelion: Anima series was still overall a pleasant and intriguing surprise, showing us an alternative universe where the characters engage in compelling plot lines that go beyond what was depicted in the original Evangelion series (Hikari of all characters becomes an action anti-heroine, to name just one of several examples), and I'm not just saying things when I say I gained more fulfillment from these light novels than I did the Rebuild movies.

...I really wish one day there'll be an anime adaptation of Anima with Sadamoto's original character designs.

That's cool.

Is there any significance to Asuka's VA narrating it or was Tiffany who they were able to get? Not that I mind.

I don't see her name come up as much these days, but back when Evangelion was the hotness in the anime scene and Naruto was just barely airing in Japan, she was probably one of the original VAs you'd start hearing regularly that was at the top of her craft. Her Asuka voice is pretty comparable in notoriety to Veronica Taylor's voice acting for Ash Ketchum on Pokemon.

I got to meet her a few times in person and she was always incredibly snappy/funny and personable, and it's a delight to see she's got the exact same sound after all this time. Apparently her only recent notable role I caught was a notable side character in Warframe.

This news is like seeing Sir Ian McKellen was asked to read the audio books for Lord of the Rings. I wish Tiffany was around more often, she's still one of the best.

Yeah, very true, LinkTSwordmaster.

I also wish we could still hear her in more stuff. Looking at the list I see a few other things in addition to her most recent reprisal of Asuka for the last movie but I miss hearing her regularly.

One of my favorites from back then and around that time she was getting into everything which was very cool. Always loved hearing her Asuka, so this is really pretty cool even though I don't usually buy these sorts of things or light novels in general.

While there is a newer dub, let's be honest- the core actors have been associated with their roles for so long, virtually no one will care about new voices. Seven Seas is probably targeting older fans who would feel more comfort with the recognizable voices. Spike Spencer is probably a little too old to voice Shinji and I don't remember the volumes I read that well, but Asuka has a pretty substantial role so it makes sense to have Tiffany. Alison Keith could have easily done it too, availability permitting, but Misato doesn't have the importance/role as Asuka will have over the course of all the volumes.

The light novels for I'm in Love With the Villainess doesn't share the VA cast but it's pretty much the sole audiobook that doesn't recruit the original VA. Even Slayers recruited Lisa Ortiz to return for that audiobook but I'm also not discounting Tiffany Grant destroying Seven Seas for not letting her do it given her love for the character, LOL.

Me too! It would be so neat in anime form.

Yeah it is a shame. The only things I know that she has done recently, aside from the fourth Rebuild Film (also redubs for the prior Films), is reprisals for Girls und Panzer and some additional voices for titles like Vinland Saga and I'm Quitting Heroing.

This is a really nice surprise. It's great to get audiobooks of light novels in general, and Grant is a nice bonus.

On the other hand, it's Anima. I've read it and I absolutely do not recommend anyone else to do the same. (The story is insane and not even in the good kind of way) I wonder if the same frequently-repeated phrases will sound more or less annoying in audio.

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent light novel had Veronica Taylor narrate even though she's not in the anime dub at all. There's been several others like that but I can't name them at the top of my head but usually they still use anime dub actors even if they can't get the anime cast back.
