It seems the dog gimmick worked! The Pikmin 4 team should be proud. I would not be surprised if Pikmin 5 has been greenlit already.

It is not just the dog, the game is very welcoming to new players too. In comparison pikmin 1 and 2 spank new players pretty hard challenge wise. I vividly remember playing pikmin 1 and my first playthrough ending horribly.

True. Pikmin 1 in particular is somewhat brutal due to the time limit. I got the normal ending the first time I played. Now I can get all the parts in 26 days as far as my own personal best now.

Pikmin 2 gets hard after the normal ending and going for the true ending.

Pikmin 3 I would argue is newcomer friendly but being on the Wii U killed it's chances. Being re-released on Switch helped a bit.

Pikmin 4 has everything going for it. A cute dog, on one of the most popular systems, just enough hand holding to ease you into it if your new (too much if your a fan) and last but not least a very good sizable demo.
